Marqa Island (also called “Merka”) is one of the islands under Al-Birk Governorate in the Asir region, located 20 km from the shore. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the island by boat.

It is considered one of the most pristine natural islands in Saudi Arabia, ideal for swimming, diving, and fishing. The island features white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, coral reefs, and hosts local and migratory birds such as seagulls, flamingos, and the heron, along with their nests. The island also has dense seagrass, mangrove plants, and sponges.

For diving and marine nature enthusiasts, the island has a diverse selection of reefs, including flat, dome-shaped, gully, and barrier coral formations.

On the way to the island, tourists can enjoy activities like photographing dolphins, pelicans, and capturing the island’s stunning natural scenery.

• 16:00 (1 hour) | Gathering at Haramain Train Station, Jeddah – Al-Salmaniyah
• 17:30 (6 hours) | Travel by bus to Al-Birk Governorate

Friday – Island Activities

• 12:00 | Arrival at the chalet
• 04:00 (1 hour) | Early wake-up and light snack
• 05:00 (1 hour) | Departure to Al-Birk Marina
• 06:00 (1 hour) | Boat ride to Marqa Island with dolphin watching
• 07:00 (1 hour) | Breakfast on the island
• Free time: sunbathing and swimming (private for women)
• 1-hour boat fishing trip
• Lunch
• Island tour: observe marine and terrestrial wildlife
• Recreational activities
• 17:00 | Return to Al-Birk Beach for evening beach activities
• 20:00 (3 hours) | Dinner on the beach with light evening entertainment and a movie

Saturday – Return

• 01:00 | Return to chalet
• 06:00 (2 hours) | Wake up for Fajr prayer and breakfast
• 08:00 (4 hours) | Tour of Al-Birk Governorate
• 14:00 | Departure back to Jeddah
